Terms of Service
Effective Date: [July 2026]

1. About Us

These terms are intended to set out the basis on which Bright Soul provides choir membership, rehearsals, workshops, events, and related services. They are not a substitute for independent legal advice. Members should seek their own advice if they are unsure about their rights or obligations.

Bright Soul is led by Amanda Mitchell and provides community and bespoke choir workshops, singing events, and private one-to-one vocal coaching.

Bright Soul Choirs rehearse for a minimum of 30 weeks annually, with additional sessions, events, and performances scheduled throughout the year. All term dates are published on our website or communicated directly via email.

Please direct all performance or event participation enquiries to Amanda Mitchell. Engagement in additional activities is subject to scheduling availability and the choir’s financial capacity

By booking, subscribing, attending a rehearsal, workshop, event, performance, or one-to-one session, or by accessing member materials, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not make a booking, attend sessions, or use Bright Soul materials.

2. Music and Materials

All song arrangements, lyric sheets, choreography, and branded materials shared with members are strictly for personal use. These materials must not be shared, reproduced, or used for commercial purposes.

Access to resources is contingent upon membership fees being current. Membership provides access to learning tools, including lyric sheets and, where available, harmony MP3s.

3. Fees and Membership

Membership fees may be paid monthly by subscription, termly, or half-termly. We reserve the right to amend fees by giving members at least one month’s written notice. Continued participation after the notice period confirms acceptance of the updated fee structure.

Direct debit subscriptions will adjust automatically to reflect pricing updates. ‍

4. Subscription Plans

‍Subscriptions are designed for members intending to participate regularly and must be set up before the autumn term begins. Payments are spread over 10 months and continue monthly unless cancelled in writing in accordance with the cancellation terms below.

Subscriptions are managed by third-party providers (Stripe or GoCardless) regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Bright Soul does not store or access your financial details.

If a payment fails, alternative payment arrangements will be requested. Subscription fees are non-refundable.

5. Cancelling Your Subscription

Subscribers may cancel their subscription at any time by giving at least one calendar month’s written notice. Payments due during the notice period remain payable, and cancellation will take effect at the end of that notice period. Members are responsible for submitting cancellation requests promptly, including where cancellation is due to illness, bereavement, or other personal hardship. Bright Soul cannot process cancellations retrospectively unless required by law. No refunds will be issued for missed sessions due to illness or personal circumstances, except where statutory rights apply.

6. Term, Concert, and Workshop Bookings

‍Details and pricing for terms, workshops, and events are available on our website and subject to change.

‍Bookings must be paid in full in advance. All bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable, except where required by law or where Bright Soul cancels and no suitable alternative is offered. If purchasing a 5-session pass, it must be used within 5 consecutive weeks.

‍Booking confirmations are issued by email and are only valid for the named individual.

‍Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you may have as a consumer. Where a legal cooling-off period applies to an online, telephone, or distance purchase, Bright Soul will comply with those rights. Where services begin during any applicable cooling-off period at your request, you may be required to pay for services already provided.

7. Attendance and Absence

Refunds and session rollovers are not provided for member absences. Should Bright Soul Choir cancel or reschedule a rehearsal, an alternative date will be arranged.

8. Choir Participation

‍Bright Soul welcomes adults aged 18 and over—no audition necessary. Choirs include soprano, alto, and tenor sections. All members are valued regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.

‍Members are encouraged to disclose any health or access needs to ensure inclusive participation.

9. Expectations of Members

To maintain a respectful, inclusive environment, members must behave considerately at all times. Rehearsals and performances must be attended free from the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs.

Bright Soul is an adult choir community. Members must treat all participants with dignity and respect and must not engage in harassment, bullying, intimidation, discrimination, or inappropriate conduct. Any safeguarding, welfare, or serious conduct concern should be raised with Amanda Mitchell as soon as possible so that appropriate steps can be taken.

Members may record rehearsal audio for their own personal learning only, where Amanda Mitchell has confirmed that recording is permitted. Recordings must not be shared, published, uploaded, sold, or used for any purpose outside personal practice. Mobile phone use should be kept to a minimum during rehearsals. For urgent matters, members may step out discreetly.

Punctuality is expected. Refrain from excessive talking during rehearsal. ‍

Bright Soul reserves the right to refuse attendance, suspend access to sessions or materials, or terminate membership where a member breaches these terms, behaves in a way that is unsafe, discriminatory, abusive, disruptive, or otherwise harmful to the choir community, or fails to pay fees when due. Where reasonable, concerns will be discussed with the member before action is taken.

10. Health & Safety

Members have a duty of care for themselves and others. Known health and safety concerns at venues will be communicated in advance where reasonably practicable. Any issues should be raised directly with Amanda Mitchell as soon as possible.

Bright Soul is not liable for personal injury, illness, or loss arising from participation in its activities, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Vocal health remains the responsibility of the member. Please consult a healthcare professional if unsure about your fitness to sing.

11. Infectious diseases protocol

All members must comply with up-to-date health measures, which will be issued separately and revised as necessary.

12. Event Changes and Cancellations

‍Bright Soul reserves the right to alter, reschedule, relocate, move online, or cancel rehearsals, workshops, events, or performances where necessary, including due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Where Bright Soul cancels an activity and no suitable alternative is offered, any refund or credit will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer rights.

We do not accept liability for costs incurred due to changes, rescheduling, relocation, online delivery, or cancellation, including travel or accommodation expenses, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

13.Complaints

We are committed to fostering an open and respectful environment in our choir community. While we strive for excellence and smooth-running rehearsals and events, we understand that sometimes things may not go as planned. If you find yourself dissatisfied or have concerns, we encourage you to raise these with care and thoughtfulness.

Before making a complaint, please pause to consider the matter and whether it could be approached through a constructive conversation. Remember, all members—including the choir leader—are only human, and we ask that everyone treat one another with empathy and respect. Please ensure your complaint is made with the intention of seeking a positive resolution, rather than expressing frustration.

If, after reflection, you feel your concern needs to be addressed formally, please follow this process:‍ ‍

  • Contact Amanda Mitchell directly, either in person or by email, outlining your concerns with as much clarity and detail as possible.

  • ‍Allow reasonable time for Amanda to respond and work towards a resolution. Some matters may take a little time to investigate and resolve.

  • ‍If your issue is particularly sensitive or you feel unable to approach Amanda directly, ask a trusted choir member to help facilitate the conversation.

  • ‍ Your voice matters, and we are committed to learning and improving together. However, we kindly ask that complaints be made after careful consideration, and always with respect for all involved.

14. Limitation of Liability

15. Privacy & Data Rights

Bright Soul will use personal data to administer memberships, bookings, payments, communications, rehearsals, events, safeguarding and welfare matters, and legal or financial record keeping. Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection law. Bright Soul will only share personal data where necessary to provide services, manage payments, comply with legal obligations, or protect the safety and rights of members and others.

You may request access to, correction or deletion of personal data we hold. You also have the right to restrict or object to processing and to request data transfer to a third party.

To exercise these rights or for any data queries or concerns, please contact Amanda Mitchell via https://brightsoul.co.uk/contact.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms, membership, bookings, events, workshops, or coaching services will be subject to the courts of England and Wales, unless consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

These terms may be updated from time to time. The version in force at the time of booking, subscription, attendance, or use of materials will apply unless a later version is notified to members.
