FAQs

  • Do I have to audition to sing in this Choir?

Bright Soul is a community choir and no audition is necessary.

  • How diverse is your choir?

You are welcome regardless of ability, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, religion, or beliefs.

  • Do I have to read music?

No technical knowledge of music is needed to sing in this choir. We use the traditional gospel call and response method for learning the songs and recommend you record the sessions on your phone to support your learning.

  • I'm not sure if I can sing in tune?

It is recommended that you start with a singing lesson as a safe way to explore your voice and learn how to match notes before joining the choir. Lessons can be booked with Amanda.

  • Does this choir accept drop ins?

We do not accept drop-ins. This choir runs on a termly basis, which means you need to have time to commit to a full term. Of course, you may miss some sessions, but as long as you catch up, this is not an issue.

  • How much time do I need to spend practising outside of choir?

There is no easy answer to this question as it varies from person to person. But we recommend 30 minutes, 3-5 times per week. This will help you to feel confident when singing the songs in rehearsal and help us move forward together as a choir.

Bright Soul Choir members are sitting and laughing together at rehearsal in St. Luke's Church, Prestonville, Brighton.
